Coronado is 8-2 against Canon City since September of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Coronado's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Palmer as they made off with a 17-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Paige Pakenham made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Pakenham was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ar'Monie Faniel, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Leland, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.
Coronado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .821. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Canon City hadn't done well against Pueblo South recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Tigers won by a run and slipped past the Colts 11-10. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Allisyn Gasseling and Cammi Leis did most of the damage at the plate: Gasseling went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Leis went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Hand, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.
Coronado's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Canon City, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 5-11.
Canon City's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Coronado has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Canon City, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Coronado's sizable advantage in that area, the Tigers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Coronado took their win against Canon City in their previous matchup last Thursday by a conclusive 15-5 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
