The Bayard Rustin Golden Knights had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 63-50 victory over Penn Wood. For Bayard Rustin, this counts as revenge for the 63-56 defeat Penn Wood walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2019.
Riley Stackhouse had a dynamite game for Bayard Rustin, scoring 35 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Gia DiMichele was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Bayard Rustin's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Penn Wood, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bayard Rustin will take on Springfield at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Penn Wood, they will head out on the road to face off against Merion Mercy Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
