Soccer Game Preview: Islands vs. Jenkins

Islands has won three straight games at home, while Jenkins has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Islands Sharks will welcome the Jenkins Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Islands is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.8 goals per game this season.

Jenkins better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Islands really gets things going. Islands' defense stepped up to hand Southeast Bulloch a 3-0 shutout on Thursday. The Sharks' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four contests.

Evan Narvaez and Jack Mace scored all three of Islands' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 23 goals.

Meanwhile, Jenkins was able to grind out a solid victory over Liberty County on Thursday, taking the game 5-3. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Panthers are ranked 278th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Islands' win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Jenkins, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.

Islands took their win against Jenkins in their previous meeting back in March of 2022 by a conclusive 10-0. Will Islands repeat their success, or does Jenkins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
