Soccer Game Preview: Eastlake vs. Bonita Vista

The Eastlake Titans will head out to challenge the Bonita Vista Barons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Eastlake is headed into the game having not lost since January 4 and will look to keep things rolling. They had just enough and edged Olympian out 2-1. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Eagles are ranked 390th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Natalia Gregorio and Sophia May scored both of Eastlake's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.

Meanwhile, Bonita Vista had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.3 goals) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They never let the Crusaders onto the board and left with a 2-0 win. That's two games straight that the Barons have won by exactly two goals.

Eastlake is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those eight matchups. As for Bonita Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.

Eastlake beat Bonita Vista by a goal in their previous meeting back in January, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eastlake since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
