Recap: Marion Center Stingers vs. Purchase Line Red Dragons
In what's become a running theme this season, the Marion Center Stingers gave their fans yet another huge win on Monday. They put the hurt on Purchase Line with a sharp 62-42 win. Given Marion Center's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Purchase Line is ranked 441st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Purchase Line's loss came despite strong showings from Brooklyn Syster and Anna Layden. Syster scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks, while Layden scored seven points along with 13 rebounds. Syster has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.
The win was the fourth in a row for Marion Center, bringing their record for this year to 14-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Purchase Line, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Marion Center will be playing at home against West Shamokin at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Purchase Line, they will head out on the road to square off against Penns Manor at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Penns Manor will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
