Basketball Recap: Arvin Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Arvin entered their tilt with Foothill on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Foothill Trojans by a score of 38-31. That's more bragging rights for the Bears, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Arvin got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Rosario Flores out in front who posted eight points in addition to seven boards and six steals. Flores is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kimberly Ochoa, who scored 16 points and three steals.

Arvin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Jayda Green and Marihya Portis certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Green had eight points along with 16 rebounds and seven steals, while Portis put up eight points in addition to 12 boards and five steals. That's the most rebounds Green has posted since back in December of 2023.

Arvin is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season. As for Foothill, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-7.

Arvin has already played their next contest (against Mira Monte), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Foothill has already played their next game, a 21-13 win against Golden West on the 18th.
