Basketball Game Preview: Milpitas Trojans vs. Fremont Firebirds

The Milpitas Trojans will head out to square off against the Fremont Firebirds at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Milpitas took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Monta Vista by a score of 49-42. The win was all the more spectacular given the Trojans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 532nd, while the Matadors are ranked 224th).

Meanwhile, Fremont hadn't done well against Monta Vista recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Fremont escaped with a win against Monta Vista by the margin of a single free throw, 38-37.

Milpitas' victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-8. As for Fremont, their record now sits at 5-9.

Milpitas came up short against Fremont in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 43-30. Can Milpitas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
