Baseball Game Preview: Jenkins Warriors vs. Islands Sharks

Jenkins hasn't had much luck against Islands recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sharks at 5:30 p.m. Jenkins is coming into the contest hot, having won their last ten games.

Last Wednesday, Jenkins beat McIntosh County Academy 10-6.

Jacob Pilcher and Charlie Stuart did most of the damage at the plate: Pilcher scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1, while Stuart scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Pilcher a new career-high in RBI (two). Brian Swinton was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Islands can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They walked away with a 12-8 victory over Bryan County. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Sharks' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Jenkins' win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Islands, their win bumped their record up to 10-16.
