Basketball Recap: Alyse Lomeli Key Part of a Team Effort in Tigers Win

Patterson won the last time they faced Manteca and things went their way on Thursday too. The Patterson Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-45 victory over the Manteca Buffaloes. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Buffaloes are ranked 593rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Patterson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alyse Lomeli out in front who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Lomeli has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Nevaeh Goins was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten boards.

Despite the loss, Manteca still got an impressive performance from Kalaja Reese, who went 8 of 12 en route to 18 points and three steals. That's the most points Reese has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Saniyah Anthony, who scored three points along with ten rebounds and three steals.

Patterson's record is now 20-7. As for Manteca, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.

Coming up, Patterson will challenge Oakdale at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Manteca, they will face off against Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
