Baseball Recap: Cedar Shoals Takes a Loss

After flying high against Greene County last Friday, Cedar Shoals came back down to earth. The Jaguars came up short against the Meadowcreek Mustangs on Monday, falling 19-8. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Jaguars of the 13-10 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Tristan Nix was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He also put up two RBI, which were his first of the season. Elan Norris was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Cedar Shoals' defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Meadowcreek, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-17.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cedar Shoals will host Central Gwinnett at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Jaguars are facing the Black Knights at the right time seeing as the Black Knights are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Meadowcreek, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Berkmar at 5:00 p.m. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.33 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
