Softball Recap: D'evelyn Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

D'Evelyn entered their tilt with Dakota Ridge on Wednesday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 16-3 win. Considering the Jaguars have won 13 matchups by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Nava Basquez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Calista Hinestroza was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Lyla Nagy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.

D'Evelyn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dakota Ridge only managed four.

D'Evelyn's victory bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Dakota Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. D'Evelyn will challenge Vista PEAK Prep at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Dakota Ridge, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against George Washington at 4:00 p.m. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
