Baseball Game Preview: Messalonskee Eagles vs. Brunswick Dragons

The Messalonskee Eagles will face off against the Brunswick Dragons at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

Messalonskee's last matchup with Bangor could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Wednesday. The Eagles came up short against the Rams, falling 19-7. The Eagles have struggled against the Rams recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Sean Achorn made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played.

Meanwhile, Brunswick can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past Mt. Blue 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Dragons have posted against the Cougars since May 13, 2016.

The team relied heavily on Logan Garacia, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Gerbi, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Messalonskee's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Brunswick, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
