Soccer Game Preview: Lovett vs. Greater Atlanta Christian

The Lovett Lions will head out to challenge the Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Lovett is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 goals on Tuesday, they were much more limited against North Atlanta on Thursday. They fell 3-1 to the Warriors. While losing is never fun, Lovett can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 195th, while North Atlanta are ranked 27th).

Meanwhile, Greater Atlanta Christian had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 goals) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They never let the Dragons get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. Greater Atlanta Christian's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three matchups.

Greater Atlanta Christian's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those five games. As for Lovett, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4.

Lovett might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Greater Atlanta Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Lovett avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
