Basketball Recap: Minarets' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Minarets came into Tuesday's game having lost ten straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 40-28 victory over the Avenal Buccaneers on Tuesday. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 48-43 loss the last time these two teams met.

Minarets' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Savannah Garabedian led the charge by putting up 16 points. Those 16 points gave Garabedian a new career-high. Zaphara Bryon-Hamilton was another key player, posting 13 points.

Minarets' win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-10. As for Avenal, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

Minarets has already played their next contest, a 44-41 victory against Fowler on the 14th. As for Avenal, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 34-31 defeat against Riverdale on the 8th.
