Preview: Armstrong River Hawks vs. Gateway Gators
The Armstrong River Hawks will head out on the road to square off against the Gateway Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Armstrong has seven straight victories, Gateway has ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Armstrong beat Hampton 39-31. Given Armstrong's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Hampton is ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Gateway had to suffer through a rough 60-18 loss at the hands of Woodland Hills.
Armstrong is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Gateway, they dropped their record down to 2-17 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Armstrong beat Gateway 57-45 when the teams last played back in December of 2021. Does Armstrong have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gateway turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
