Baseball Recap: Kickapoo Comes Up Short

After flying high against La Farge on Monday, Kickapoo came back down to earth. The Panthers came up short against the Weston Silver Eagles on Thursday, falling 13-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Silver Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-1 last Monday.

Randyn Dechant was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Chase Krings made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base was his first of the season.

Kickapoo has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Weston, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-10 record.

Looking ahead, Kickapoo will take on Seneca at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Weston does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
