Basketball Recap: San Leandro Pirates vs. Las Lomas Knights
San Leandro was the 66-47 winner over Las Lomas when they last played one another back in December of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. The San Leandro Pirates took a 50-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Las Lomas Knights on Thursday.
Las Lomas had a senior duo take command as Ariana Cannon dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 boards and Kimiko Hirahara posted 14 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. That's the most points Cannon has posted since back in December of 2024. Aisha Sandhu was another key player, putting up 11 points and four steals.
San Leandro's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Las Lomas, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season.
Coming up, San Leandro won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Castro Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. San Leandro is facing Castro Valley at the right time seeing as Castro Valley is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Las Lomas, they will venture away from home to challenge Clayton Valley Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
