Baseball Recap: Centennial Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Centennial, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the Kell Longhorns by a score of 5-1 on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Knights: when they faced off against the Longhorns last Tuesday, they had to take a 11-5 defeat.

Daniel Bustillos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Centennial is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-16 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Jake Hickox was a standout: he scored a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Lance Isaacs, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Centennial's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 6-17. As for Kell, their loss dropped their record down to 15-8.

Centennial will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Longhorns: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
