Softball Recap: Grove's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

Grove dropped down to 15-10 on Saturday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins. They lost 8-1 to the Bishop Kelley Comets. The Ridgerunners were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

As for Bishop Kelley, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.

For Bishop Kelley's part, Kate Beyerl was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Bond, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Grove will face off against Verdigris at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bishop Kelley, they will challenge Union at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
