Basketball Game Preview: Richton Rebels vs. Sumrall Bobcats + How To Watch

Two dominant guards in Rakhiya Moody and Ella Robertson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Richton Rebels are taking a road trip to take on the Sumrall Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Richton will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

If Sumrall heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Richton took over last week. The Rebels managed a 47-42 win over Presbyterian Christian last Saturday.

Richton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nylah Robins out in front who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Caedence Amos-Smith, who had seven points.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bobcats on Tuesday. Sumrall took a hard 58-43 fall against Presbyterian Christian.

Richton will need to focus on slowing down Kynnedy Lumpkins, one of several Sumrall players who made an impact when they last played. She shot 64% from the field to rack up 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Talasha Harvey, who scored seven points and ten rebounds.

Sumrall dropped their record down to 3-6 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Richton, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Richton has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 44.6 boards per game. However, it's not like Sumrall struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Richton was able to grind out a solid victory over Sumrall in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 55-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
