Basketball Recap: John Paul Mack's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Thomas More Academy over GRACE Christian + How To Watch

St. Thomas More Academy lost against GRACE Christian back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Chancellors took a 67-48 bruising from the Eagles. The Chancellors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

St. Thomas More Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was John Paul Mack, who shot 5-for-6 from downtown and dropped a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds. That was a full 41.7% of the Chancellors' points, marking the third time in a row Mack has posted more than a third of the team's points. Joseph Wetherell also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

GRACE Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gideon Anum led the charge by going 5-for-7 to rack up 12 points along with six boards and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Anum now owns an excellent 48.6% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Eli Nelson, who shot 67% from the field en route to 13 points and seven rebounds.

St. Thomas More Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for GRACE Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-3.

Coming up, St. Thomas More Academy will face off against Rocky Mount Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for GRACE Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-60 loss against Fayetteville Academy on the 22nd.
