Basketball Recap: Vallejo Gets Big Victory over Higher-Ranked Kennedy

Vallejo was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Kennedy on Thursday. The Vallejo Redhawks were the clear victor by a 56-35 margin over the Kennedy Eagles. The win was all the more spectacular given the Redhawks' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 955th, while the Eagles are ranked 444th).

Veekie Head was a one-woman wrecking crew for Vallejo as she dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds. Taliyah Davis was another key player, putting up six points along with seven boards and three steals.

Vallejo was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Vallejo's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-10. As for Kennedy, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vallejo will take on Elite at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Kennedy, they will face off against Elsie Allen at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
