Football Game Preview: Medicine Lodge Indians vs. Trinity Celtics

The Medicine Lodge Indians are taking a road trip to square off against the Trinity Celtics at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Medicine Lodge took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on South Sumner [Caldwell/South Haven] with a sharp 47-21 victory. The matchup marked the Indians' most dominant win of the season.

Medicine Lodge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Braxx Farr led the charge by rushing for 109 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries. Farr's longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another signal caller making a difference was Mavrik Inslee, who threw for 249 yards and three touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Medicine Lodge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 205 rushing yards. They are 2-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Meanwhile, Trinity had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Eagles a 26-0 shutout. Considering the Celtics have won three contests by more than 25 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Trinity's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Medicine Lodge, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Medicine Lodge came out on top in a nail-biter against Trinity when the teams last played back in November of 2024, sneaking past 22-20. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
