Basketball Recap: North East Takes a Loss

North East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Northwestern Wildcats and fell 66-37. The Grape Pickers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-20.

It was another big night for Makayla Presser-Palmer, who dropped a double-double on 36 points and ten boards for Northwestern. That makes it 16 consecutive games in which Presser-Palmer has scored at least a third of Northwestern's points. Another player making a difference was Morgan Gorzynski, who posted 18 points.

North East's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Northwestern, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North East has already played their next matchup (against Girard), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Northwestern will head out on the road to face off against Union City at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Union City is on a four-game streak of home wins, Northwestern a 15-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
