Preview: Osborne Cardinals vs. Cherokee Warriors
After two games on the road, Osborne is heading back home. They will take on The Cherokee Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Osborne should still be feeling good after a big victory, while Cherokee will be looking to get back into the win column.
Even though Osborne has not done well against Kennesaw Mountain recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Osborne took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 35-3 win over Kennesaw Mountain. Given Osborne's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Kennesaw Mountain is ranked 226th), the result wasn't exactly an upset.
Meanwhile, Cherokee's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. The contest between Cherokee and Wheeler wasn't particularly close, with Cherokee falling 36-19.
Osborne's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-0. To be fair, it's not like the team was facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-6 Woodstock and 1-5 Kennesaw Mountain (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 25.6% over those games). Cherokee has traveled a rocky road this season, as they've lost five of their first six contests, which gives them a 1-5 record this season.
Osborne came up short against Cherokee in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 29-25. Will Osborne have more luck at home instead of on the road?
