Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Carter). They put the hurt on the Sikeston Bulldogs with a sharp 21-2 victory on Tuesday. The Redbirds haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Calleigh Miller made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Miller was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, East Carter got a massive performance out of Ryelynn Bowman, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Bowman has posted since back in October of 2024. Makenzie Hovis also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
East Carter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
East Carter's record now sits at 4-12. As for Sikeston, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the defeat, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. East Carter will venture away from home to face off against Twin Rivers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sikeston, they will head out to take on Farmington at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
