Baseball Game Preview: Dundee-Crown Chargers vs. Fenton Bison

The Dundee-Crown Chargers will venture away from home to take on the Fenton Bison at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Dundee-Crown took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Central by a score of 11-8. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Chargers considering their two-run performance the game before.

Fenton came out on top against Marian Central Catholic on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Bison never let the Hurricanes get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory.

The result came thanks to Tyler Bernero's shutout, as he gave up just a hit. He has become a key player for Fenton: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 7-18 otherwise.

At the plate, Fenton got a big performance out of Jaydan Matias, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Matias has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Ramirez, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fenton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marian Central Catholic only managed two.

Fenton pushed their record up to 9-19 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Dundee-Crown, their record is now 10-18.
