Baseball Game Preview: Cherokee Bluff Bears vs. West Hall Spartans

For the second straight game, Cherokee Bluff will face off against West Hall. The Bears will head out on the road to take on the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Cherokee Bluff is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Cherokee Bluff took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over West Hall. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Cherokee Bluff got a great performance from Gabe Gowder as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Gowder is becoming a predictor of the Bears' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 7-1 (and 8-9 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Cherokee Bluff let Ethan England and Bryce Fontenot run wild. England fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3, while Fontenot fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Fontenot also scored two runs, which is notable because Cherokee Bluff is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-10 otherwise. Kaden Thompson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Cherokee Bluff lost a few balls and finished the game with five home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Cherokee Bluff pushed their record up to 15-10 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for West Hall, they moved to 9-16 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
