Soccer Game Preview: Woodside vs. Menlo School

The Woodside Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Menlo School Knights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Woodside's last five matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Woodside's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Sequoia 1-0. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by just one goal.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Abigail Clarke, who's now up to three this season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to four goals the game before, Menlo School was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They fell just short of Crystal Springs Uplands by a score of 2-1.

Woodside has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five contests. As for Menlo School, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 12-4.

Woodside skirted past Menlo School 1-0 in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Woodside since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
