Softball Game Preview: St. Amant Gators vs. Prairieville Hurricanes

The St. Amant Gators will face off against the Prairieville Hurricanes at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

St. Amant is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Louisiana's top teams: Lutcher, who was ranked 17th at the time (St. Amant was ranked 12th). The Gators came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 6-1 on Monday.

Meanwhile, Prairieville was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Charles Catholic on Monday, taking the game 8-3.

Jiselle Fierro made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Fierro was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Fierro wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Payten DeVeer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Another was Whitney Kliebert, who earned two runs and one stolen base.

Prairieville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.

St. Amant's win bumped their record up to 25-12-1. As for Prairieville, their victory bumped their record up to 13-23-1.

Everything went St. Amant's way against Prairieville in their previous matchup back in April, as St. Amant made off with a 15-0 win. Will the Gators repeat their success, or do the Hurricanes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
