Volleyball Recap: Upper Scioto Valley's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lima Central Catholic, Upper Scioto Valley was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Cory-Rawson Fighting Hornets 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted against the Fighting Hornets since August 25, 2016.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (94-91) Upper Scioto Valley actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 16-25, 10-25, 25-12, 15-11.

Their offense was headlined by Raegan Castle and Kamyn Titus, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Audrey Lawrence and her 19 assists. Ruby Risner controlled things from the service line, finishing with nine aces.

Despite the loss, Cory-Rawson saw an underclassman step up: freshman Rory Walters had 12 digs. Those 12 digs set a new season-high mark for Walters.

With the win, Upper Scioto Valley broke their four-match losing streak and moved their record to 5-15. As for Cory-Rawson, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-17.

Coming up, Upper Scioto Valley will head out to face off against Ada at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cory-Rawson, they will welcome Ridgemont at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
