Recap: Cambria Heights Highlanders vs. River Valley Panthers
The Cambria Heights Highlanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 52-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of River Valley. Cambria Heights has not had much luck with River Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the loss, Cambria Heights still got an impressive performance from Sienna Kirsch, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 45.2% of Cambria Heights' points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracey Vinglish, who scored nine points along with 13 rebounds.
It was another big night for Ava Persichetti, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and four steals for River Valley. That makes it five consecutive games in which Persichetti has scored at least a third of River Valley's points. Another player making a difference was Emilee Staats, who scored four points along with five steals.
Cambria Heights bumped their record down to 5-7 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for River Valley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cambria Heights the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Shade at 7:15 p.m. on January 22nd. Shade comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for River Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Homer-Center at 7:15 p.m. Homer-Center will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 294th, while River Valley is ranked 103rd).
