Football Game Preview: Artesia Bulldogs vs. Lovington Wildcats + Official Tickets

Artesia has gone a perfect 10-0 against Lovington recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Bulldogs will take on the Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Artesia comes in on eight and Lovington on five.

Artesia is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Highland 49-13. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-0.

Artesia got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Derrick Warren out in front who threw for 273 yards and three TDs while completing 95.2% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Warren a new career-high in passer rating (173.1). Jack Byers was in the mix too, providing Artesia with two scores.

Meanwhile, Lovington didn't have too much trouble with Goddard on Saturday as they won 28-14.

Artesia better keep an eye on Jayden Gutierrez. He was instrumental in Lovington's win, rushing for 113 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 66 yards and a pair of TDs on only five passes. Gutierrez's passing game has become a key predictor of the Wildcats' success: the team is 5-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise.

Artesia's record now sits at 10-1. As for Lovington, their record is now 7-4.

Everything came up roses for Artesia against Lovington when the teams last played back in September, as the team secured a 56-23 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
