Football Recap: Worthington Kilbourne Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Luke Page and Jackson Szabo + How To Watch

Worthington Kilbourne dropped down to 5-2 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost to the Big Walnut Golden Eagles at home by a 35-20 margin. If the Wolves were looking for revenge after losing 31-0 to the Golden Eagles when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jackson Szabo and Luke Page certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Szabo threw for 206 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes, while Page gained 210 total yards. Page's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 119 rushing yards.

As for Big Walnut, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.8 points over those games.

Leading Big Walnut to victory were Nolan Buirley and Eli Stumpf. Buirley rushed for 170 yards and four TDs while picking up 10.6 yards per carry, while Stumpf rushed for 95 yards on only five carries.

Coming up, Worthington Kilbourne will challenge KIPP Columbus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves will be up against the Jaguars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Big Walnut, they will be playing at home against Westerville North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
