Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Flint River Academy challenged Lafayette Christian on Thursday. The Wildcats blew past the Cougars 12-0. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
Brack Spangler made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Sullivan Jones was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Eli Phillips was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.
Flint River Academy's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Central Georgia Arts has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Flint River Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
