Basketball Recap: Mission Viejo Gets the Win

If Capistrano Valley wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Mission Viejo, they should've done a better job of containing Sofia Gozzo. The Mission Viejo Diablos put the hurt on the Capistrano Valley Cougars with a sharp 48-22 win on Monday thanks in part to Gozzo, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten steals. Those ten steals gave her a new career-high.

The team also got some help courtesy of Savanna Whitesides, who posted three points and nine boards. She has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times she's played.

Mission Viejo's record is now 10-18. As for Capistrano Valley, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-20.

Mission Viejo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Capistrano Valley has already played their next match (against Northwood), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
