Softball Recap: Adams City Sets Scoring Season-High Against Aurora Central

Adams City had lost four straight, but after bumping their record up to 2-8 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Aurora Central Trojans as they made off with a 22-2 victory. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Giannah Chavez was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Chavez was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nevaeh Vazquez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Oriah Romero, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Adams City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

As for Aurora Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games.

On Aurora Central's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Miley Rivera Romero, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Looking ahead, Adams City will challenge Skyline at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Aurora Central, they will square off against Thornton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
