Basketball Recap: Avella Sets Scoring Season-High Against Bentworth

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Avella). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Bentworth Bearcats 69-39. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Leading Avella to victory were Sydney Strope and Ava Frank. Strope posted 30 points, while Frank had 30 points. That makes it six consecutive games in which Frank has scored at least a third of Avella's points.

When it comes to explaining why Bentworth lost, don't look at Kayla O'Dell. Despite the final result, she earned 16 points and five rebounds. Brielle Dillon was another key player, putting up four points.

Avella's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Bentworth, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

Avella will be playing in front of their home fans against Serra Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bentworth, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-41 defeat against California on the 20th.
