Basketball Recap: Chowchilla Takes Down Santa Maria in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Chowchilla rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 48-37 victory over the Santa Maria Saints. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tribe.

Despite the loss, Santa Maria still got an impressive performance from Aaliyah Juarez, who posted 14 points and eight steals. The dominant performance gave Juarez a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Suzanna Tellez, who had 12 points.

Chowchilla's win bumped their record up to 15-10. As for Santa Maria, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-18 record this season.

Looking ahead, Chowchilla will face off against North at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Chowchilla surely won't give up without a fight. Santa Maria does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
