Basketball Game Preview: El Capitan Vaqueros vs. Mt. Carmel Sundevils + How To Watch

The El Capitan Vaqueros will challenge the Mt. Carmel Sundevils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Carmel took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on El Capitan, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, El Capitan strolled past San Ysidro with points to spare, taking the game 49-32.

Trevin Curo was a one-man wrecking crew as he dropped a double-double with 23 points and 22 boards. That's the most points he has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Jason Wilson, who scored seven points in addition to six assists and five rebounds.

El Capitan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Mt. Carmel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost to Poway at home by a 67-49 margin. The contest marked the Sundevils' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Mt. Carmel's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for El Capitan, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

El Capitan skirted past Mt. Carmel 56-53 in their previous meeting back in December of 2019. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Sundevils' Blake Dean, who went 11-for-15 on his way to 25 points and three steals.
