Softball Recap: Millard West's Run of Five Straight Wins Now Over

Millard West dropped down to 11-5 on Saturday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins. They lost 14-3 to the Papillion-LaVista Monarchs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wildcats have suffered since August 23rd.

Addie Abboud was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run. Olivia Wenz also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

As for Papillion-LaVista, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-3. The result was nothing new for the Monarchs, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Papillion-LaVista's side, Kaylee Huffman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Maizey Carpenter was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in October of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Dibelka, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Coming up, Millard West will venture away from home to face off against Omaha Westside at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Papillion-LaVista, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-5 defeat against Millard North on the 6th.
