Football Recap: Laguna Beach's Undefeated Season over After Ten Games

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last five matchups, Laguna Beach finally came back down to earth on Friday. They received a blow as they fell 24-9 to the Orange Panthers. The contest marked the Breakers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Jack Hurst threw for 91 yards and one TD. Brady Stringham was his top target, picking up 57 receiving yards and one score. On the ground, Charlie Christian rushed for 53 yards.

Orange found their leader in sophomore Star Thomas, who threw for 391 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 61 yards. Those 391 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Thomas. A healthy portion of Thomas' aerial production (138 yards to be exact) went to Adam Maldonado, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Having lost for the first time this season, Laguna Beach fell to 9-1. As for Orange, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Laguna Beach will challenge Notre Dame (SO) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Hurst and Wyatt Brown. As for Orange, they will take on Troy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
