Football Game Preview: Cordova Lancers vs. Kennedy Cougars

The Cordova Lancers will head out on the road to take on the Kennedy Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Cordova and 13 for Kennedy dating back to last season.

Cordova is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were outmatched by West Park and fell 64-14. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 777th, while the Panthers are ranked 211th).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Kennedy faced off against McClatchy on Friday. The Cougars received a blow as they fell 34-19 to the Lions.

Cordova's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Kennedy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Cordova strolled past Kennedy in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 by a score of 22-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
