Baseball Recap: Lanier Takes a Loss

Lanier started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Johns Creek. They fell just short of the Johns Creek Gladiators by a score of 5-4 on Wednesday. The Longhorns have struggled against the Gladiators recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

Lanier got a good showing from Noah Norton, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Norton a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, Andrew Lee was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Elias Barsikh was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one double.

Even though they lost, Lanier lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Lanier's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Johns Creek, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.

While Lanier had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
