Softball Recap: Columbine Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Columbine took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Riverdale Ridge, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rebels sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-13 win over the Ravens on Tuesday. With that victory, the Rebels brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Mason Abraham, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlee Abelein, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Columbine lost a few balls and finished the game with five home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverdale Ridge only launched one home run.

Columbine pushed their record up to 2-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for Riverdale Ridge, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Looking ahead, Columbine will head out to face off against Cherry Creek at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Riverdale Ridge, they will host Northglenn at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
