Basketball Recap: Bakersfield Christian Triumphs

Bakersfield Christian waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 57-56 W against the Cathedral Catholic Dons. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 53-39 win the Dons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2024.

Bakersfield Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brielle Medrano led the charge by going 12-for-27 on her way to 32 points. The contest was Medrano's third in a row with at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalaya Miller, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Bakersfield Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Bakersfield Christian's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Cathedral Catholic, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bakersfield Christian will face off against Immanuel at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cathedral Catholic, they will take on Montgomery at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
