Last Tuesday, Rio Hondo Prep was able to grind out a solid victory over Providence, taking the game 49-38. The win was just what Rio Hondo Prep needed coming off of a 61-35 defeat in their prior contest.
Rio Hondo Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sydney Diaz, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Diaz has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Avery Pollock, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Westridge's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 42-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Polytechnic. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Westridge in their matchups with Polytechnic: they've now lost seven in a row.
Rio Hondo Prep has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Westridge, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-10.
