Football Recap: New Milford Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Hillhouse last Friday, New Milford came back down to earth. The Green Wave were outmatched by the Newtown Nighthawks and fell 63-7. The Green Wave lost against the Nighthawks in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 34-14 score last time.

Ryan Lyons threw for 53 yards on nine of 24 attempts. Matthew Alfano was his top target, picking up 35 receiving yards.

Cole Stockwell had a dynamite game For Newtown., rushing for 156 yards and three scores on only 13 carries. Stockwell showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 64 yards.

New Milford's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Newtown, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

New Milford wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 54-30 defeat against Norwalk on the 26th. As for Newtown, they have also already played their next game, a 34-31 loss against Windsor on the 26th.
