Basketball Recap: Hilltop Comes Up Short

Hilltop was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 48-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chula Vista Spartans. The Lancers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 43-40.

Chula Vista's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nancy Chavez, who posted eight points and 21 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Chavez a new career-high in assists (three). Nyla Dixie was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.

Hilltop's loss dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Chula Vista, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-18.

As of now, neither Hilltop nor Chula Vista have any future games scheduled.
