Lafayette Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Central Christian on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Central Christian Crusaders by a score of 6-4. The Cougars' defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak dating back to last season.

Lafayette Christian saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josiah Hughes, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. Hughes has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Landon Childree was another, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lafayette Christian fell to 4-1. As for Central Christian, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Lafayette Christian has already played their next match, a 16-1 victory against Manchester on the 4th. As for Central Christian, they will square off against Harvester Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
